I think Linux is getting more modern in terms of their products since the advent of open -source is just starting. The open source ember that Linux fanned into a fire already explode and charred the leading commercial software provider which is Microsoft Corporation. Although we know that no one can outresource or compete Microsoft if we are going to based it on the amount of money that they have in the bank and at the huge
castle manors. But as far as product quality is concern I think Linux is getting to the destination where Microsoft had been dominating several ages ago.
Perhaps the future of Linux being the world's primer operating system is still far from materializing since we know that they still have to climb the computer summit like the
Mt. Everest peak to remove the flag that MS had raised and hoisted. One malady of Linux users is that they think that the open-source software can easily replaced Windows that we're using for years and that we are still utilizing as of now. To tell you the truth guys, I noticed that we still got conservative users who are incarcerated with the service the Windows provide and I must admit that it would be very hard for us to ditch MS Windows for Linux Ubuntu.
Especially now that MS will be releasing the
Windows Vista version, computer users will be more hesitant in leaving MS to switch to Linux software. I hope I don't sound like an endorser of MS products, I also like Linux because their cheaper and friendlier to users, but however, here is more to MS that meets the eye. Although MS have had some mistakes on their previous products like viruses in Excel, I think they've been paying for that already by creating safer and high-class products as that of Linux, though I think there's no open-source yet.
The battle of giant software applications is just starting, and the good thing is that we users get the benefits. Linux will definitely raise an all-out-war against Microsoft now that a new mobile phone platform will adopt Linux as the official operating
