I think Microsoft is a real giant company that personal and business computer users don't want to mess with, not even its rival companies who are creating alternative software programs for office suites. After releasing the second test version of windows Vista, the software king is moving towards inspecting if users are utilizing the pirated version of MS Office or not. I guess this is the company's idea of restoring its confidence in creating and releasing key software products this and for the coming years.
In line to its battle against piracy, the company launched a pilot program called Office Genuine Advantage which will help check if our computers have the real MS office configured in them. What's interesting about this new program is that it comes in seven languages including
Spanish and Russian. They are also planning to expand the said program in the near future but there's no exact date when they'll be releasing the actual program.
As part of the anti-piracy thingy, the company are also targeting online auctions that are selling pirated versions of its software. These sites are the best portals where people from around the globe can trade goods as easy as checking their balance in
ATM machines. Personally, I enjoy the benefits furnished by the digital market but then again I'm somehow threatened with the idea that I might not receive what is worth for my money. I also heard that the company will be giving discount prices on versions of Windows to Chinese users where it is reported that software piracy is strongest.
